Arrow Trucking Leaves Drivers Hanging In Worst Way

Arrow Trucking has set a new low in corporate conduct. It simply closed shop a few days before Christmas, cut-off driver’s gas cards and left them stranded across the country.

We’ve all heard the stories, but nobody seems to have really experienced them. You know, the one about the company that is run by people that are such huge jerks that they actually fire employees a few days before Christmas. Well, the sad truth is you don’t have to look far anymore to find a case where this really happened.

Arrow Trucking is a company located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It has apparently been suffering badly in this Great Recession. There is no shame in that. Practically every trucking company has been hurting. Arrow Trucking, however, decided to spread the misery to its drivers. Not only did the company decide to stop functioning a few days prior to Christmas, it cut off all the gas cards for drivers working around the country.

It also sent messages to those in Freightliners instructing them to drive to the nearest dealership for Freightliner and leave the trucks there! Many dealers took such pity on the stranded drivers that they let them stay in the trucks overnight even after they were returned.

The strange thing is Arrow Trucking didn’t need to do any of this. It could have simply filed for bankruptcy and received an automatic stay on the payment of any of its debts. At a minimum this would have allowed the drivers to come home and avoid being stranded. Heck, the company may have been able to negotiate away its debts and keep function.

The end result of all of this is Arrow Trucking acted in a horrible way and continues to. By simply suspending operations instead of going bankrupt, the drivers and employees are kept from claiming unemployment compensation. Let’s all hope the owners of Arrow Trucking received a large lump of coal for Christmas. They deserve that and worse.
